Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Ballet

Sergei Prokofiev’s score is one of the most celebrated works in twentieth-century ballet. Its music moves between the tenderness of Romeo and Juliet’s private moments and the threatening atmosphere created by the rivalry between the Montague and Capulet families.

The story follows Romeo as he secretly enters a Capulet celebration and meets Juliet for the first time. Their relationship develops despite the conflict between their families, leading to a secret marriage, Romeo’s banishment and the final tragedy in Juliet’s tomb.

The performance is expected to last approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes, including two intervals.
